WP Contribution

Making a contribution to open source is about much more than just code. There are countless ways to get involved, from writing documentation to fixing bugs to helping others. If you want to make an impact and make the world more accessible, start contributing.

I started using WordPress in 2013 as a Web developer, and My contribution journey began in 2017 by joining contribution day at WordCamp Ahmedabad (India). I have learned a lot while contributing. I got the chance to interact with global community members, made new friends, and got global exposure.

2017

First Contribution

– Contributed to the polyglot team and translated a few strings.
– Attended First WordCamp in Ahmedabad, where learned about community and started Ajmer WordPress Meetup group.

2018

Contribution to WPTV

Attended a contributor day in WordCamp Ahmedabad. Where I edited and uploaded Wordcamps videos to wordpress.tv

2019

Contribution to the WordPress Training team

Attended a contributor day in WordCamp Ahmedabad. I joined the Training team, onboarded, reviewed 2 lesson plans, and corrected a few spelling mistakes and grammar.

2020

Contribution to WordPress Training Team & WC Asia

– Continued Contribution to the WordPress Training team and helped in the initial launch of the learn.wordpress.org website, where I reviewed all the lesson plans containing codes.
– Joined the WCAsia team as a volunteer (unfortunately, 2020 was canceled due to COVID)
– Volunteer at WordFest 2020

2021

Contribution to Polyglots & Training team

– Translated the complete Learn WordPress website into Hindi locale
– BecameGTE for the Hindi locale (hi_IN), reviewed and approved several strings and translated strings.
– Facilitated Training Team Table at WordCamp India Contributor Day
– Speaker at WordFest 2021
– Co-organiser for WordPress Translation Day 2021.
– Audied & improved a few lesson plans
– Wrote 2 new lesson plans

2022

WP Contribution

– Became Training team Rep for 2022
– Became Official Meetup Reactivation Supporter (APAC)
– Kim Parsell Scholarship winner to attend WCUS 2022
– Contributed to WordPress 6.0 version through the Training team, wrote 3 lesson plans
– Noteworthy Contributor for WordPress 6.1
– Hosted a few online Workshops for the Training team
– Co-organiser for inaugural WordCamp Asia 2023

2023

– Continue Training Team Rep role for 2023
– Joined release squad for WordPress 6.3 and 6.4 Release as a Test Lead
– Training Team Table Lead at Contributor Day WC Kathmandu, Bhopal
– Speaker at WordCamp Bhopal and WordCamp Mumbai
– Joined community team as a Program Supporter (formerly known as a Community Deputy)
– Became Test Team Rep for 2023 – 2024 in September
– Mentor for WordPress Mentorship Program, guided mentees for training & Test team (cohort 1).
